Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest, Kulon Progo

Kulon Progo is one of Yogyakarta Special District's regency which is located at the west side. Besides Gunungkidul and Bantul, Kulon Progo has also some beaches as it's popular tourism object. But, what I will share you right now is not about beach instead of mangrove forest. Recently there is a new natural tourism object in Kulon Progo called Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest which is located at the west side of Congot Beach. It is one of mangrove forest in Yogyakarta which become very popular in the society. Another mangrove forest project in Yogyakarta is located at the end of Progo river. Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest itself, before becoming very famous as tourism spot, the first aim of this mangrove forest construction is to prevent the abrasion along the beach area.

Location and Direction to Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest

This beautiful mangrove forest is administratively located in Pasir Mendit, Jangkaran, Temon, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. The location is very easy to find. From Yogyakarta, we just need to go along Yogya-Wates street. After arriving at the T-junction of Wates bus station, we have to turn left and go along the street arround 10 kilometers. Go ahead until we find Congot Beach plank at the left side, then follow the direction until we go through Congot bridge. Go straight to the west direction about 100 meters until we find Pasir Mendit plank at the left side, follow the direction and for sure we will arrive at the wonderful Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest.

Fun Activity We can Enjoy

Besides enjoying the natural scenery, the visitors can also hunt so many pictures. For this purpose, the organizers of this spot have provided some photo spot which are very wonderful and unique, such as the bridges which bring us close to the forest area. Since mangrove forest is still rare in Yogyakarta, so for Yogyakarta people especially, we can closely look at and enjoy the beautiful of the mangrove forest. If we come here at the evening, we can see the amazing sunset at the combination of the mangrove forest and beach spot.

Ticketing

As the usual tourism object, the main facility provided in Pasir Mendit Mangrove Forest is parking area. While for the ticketing, for entrance fee, it costs IDR 3,000 and for the parking fee it costs IDR 2,000 for motorcycle and IDR 5,000 for car.

Considering the weather and the nuance of this wonderful object, I suggest you to go there at 6 am in the morning or at 4 pm at the afternoon. If we go at the morning, sure we will feel the fresh air and morning sun-shine of the beach which very good for our health. Meanwhile, if we choose to go the the evening, as I inform you before, we will enjoy the very great 

sunset there.
