the important bonded part of Keraton Yogyakarta, it is Taman Sari Water Castle.
General Information
First of all, let’s see the history of Taman Sari itself. Originally, Taman
Sari was the big beautiful park of Keraton Yogyakarta Hadiningrat. It was built
during Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I acted as the king of Yogyakarta in
1758-1765. Taman Sari
had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area,
a defense area, and a hiding place. Actually, it has 10 hectare large included building, bathing pool,
suspension bridge, water canal, artificial lake, artificial island, and
underwater lane. Generally, it has four main parts, the first part is the
artificial lake which is located at the west side. The second parts consist of
building at the south side and another artificial lake such as Umbul Binangun
Pool (Pemandian Umbul Binangun). The
next parts are Ledok Sari Grave and Garjitawati Pool which are located at the
south side of the second parts. The last part is located at the east side of
the first and second part which goes wider to the east and southeast direction
