Now, I’ll give you
some references of travelling spots in Yogyakarta. One amazing spot that you
cant missed out when you have your holiday in Yogyakarta is Keraton Yogyakarta.
It is one of the tourism object which is located in the central city of Yogyakarta
which become the real kingdom of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate. Since,
Yogyakarta officially becomes one of the province of Indonesia, this keraton
was still being used as the residen of the Yogyakarta palace family. Looking
from it’s building, it is one of the best architecture of Javaness palace ever.
It has a very luxury main royal hall, extension buildings and very large field. This object becomes one of the most favourite tourism
object since there are so many history of Yogyakarta there. Inside the building
there are some rooms which become the museum to save the historical objects,
such as: sultanate collections includes gifts from European’s King, keratons’
heirloom miniatures, sultanates’ gold-cart, and gamelan. There are also some cultural inheritance things such as
cultural ceremony and some ancient objects.
General Information
Keraton Yogyakarta
was built by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I in 1755 after Perjanjian Giyanti. Historically, the location of this palace was
the resthouse called Garjitawati. It
was special resthouse for the group of people who want to bury Mataram’ King in
Imogiri, Bantul. Another version said that this kingdom was one of the spring
in the middle of Beringan forest which name was Umbul Pacethokan. Fisically, Yogyakarta Kings’ palace has seven
main buildings, they are: Siti Hinggil Ler (North Royal Hall), Kamandhungan
Ler (North Kamandhungan),
Sri Manganti, Kedhaton, Kamagangan, Kamandhungan Kidul (South Kamandhungan), dan Siti Hinggil Kidul (South Royal Hall).
How to get there
Alright Guys, if you want to go to this wonderful object, it is very
easy for you since it is located around 50 meters only from Malioboro Street
(newest name: Margo Mulyo Street) and at the south side of Alun-Alun Utara Yogyakarta. If you drop in Tugu Train Station (now:
Stasiun Besar Yogyakarta), you just need to walk to the south direction at
Malioboro Street until you find Alun-Alun Utara and automatically you will be
able to see this amazing object nearby.
Ticketing
Keraton Yogyakarta opens daily at 8 am
and will be closed at 2 pm, except on Friday it will be closed at 12 pm. Since
this is the historical tourism object, the ticket is also not too expensive.
For local visitors, it costs 7.000 IDR. While for foreign visitors, it costs
12.500 IDR.
