Snorkeling Spot in Gunungkidul: Nglambor and Sadranan Beach

Snorkeling is one of the favorit activity done to see the wonderful under the sea. Currently, in Gunungkidul Regency there are some beaches which offer us snorkeling activity, such we can find in Nglambor Beach and Sadranan Beach. Now, I am going to give you some information which is related with those beaches.

Nglambor Beach

Nglambor is one of Gunungkidul's exotic beach which is located in one area with Siung and Jogan Beach in Purwodadi Village. It becomes one of the newest amazing beach due to the beautiful scenery of it's under-sea which can be enjoyed by snorkeling sport. There are a lot of local and foreign tourisms come to Nglambor beach, since it is the first beach in Gunungkidul which has snorkeling spot. It's also supported by the location of the beach that is not too far from another beach, so while the visitors coming to Nglambor beach, they can also enjoy the wonderful view of other beach nearby.

Public Facilities and Budgeting

The basic facillities there have been completed, such as the availability of toilet, cafetaria, and the most important  is the snorkeling's instruments rental. Talking about the ticketing, the ticket cost is quite reasonable, the entrance fee costs IDR 5,000 per person, parking fee costs IDR 3,000, snorkeling instruments rental costs IDR 50.000.

Direction

From Yogyakarta, we need to go to Wonosari, when we arrive at the second T-junction after Argosari Traditional Market, we have to turn right, go along the street to Baron Beach direction. If we fiind Indrayanti Beach plank, we need to go straight follow the direction, at the t-junction nearby Indrayanti beach, turn left and go along the street until we find Nglambor Beach plank and just follow the direction.

Sadranan Beach

Compared with Nglambor, Sadranan Beach is closer to reach when we start our journey from Wonosari. Actually, Sadranan has the same caracteristic with another beaches in Gunungkidul which have a white sand and coral-reef area. But, Sadranan Beach is dominated by white sand area and has only a small part of coral-reef area. The exact location of this beach is in Sidoharjo village. It is located in between of Krakal and Indrayanti Beach.

Interesting Activities

Besides enjoying the beautiful scenery arround the beach, the visitors will be offered by some interesting activity, such as snorkeling, sea-food cullinary, and beach-camp. Snorkeling is the newest activity offered here. The condition of the wave that quite calm gives the big support for the snorkeling activity. There are some best moment that we can choose to snorkel, at the morning at 6 am - 8 am or at the afternoon at 4 pm - 6 pm. Mostly the under-sea view is same as the view as we can enjoy in Nglambor beach, but there are some scarce fish that we can only find here. For beach-camping, some visitors usually come at the weekend.

Public Facilities and Budgeting

Now, we are going to talk about the public facility and budgeting if we go to Sadranan beach. We can say that it has complete public facilities, starting from the availability of toilets, some small-restaurants which serve us with various kind of foods and snacks, gazebos, rented carpet and umbrella, snorkeling's instruments rental, and guest-houses. We will not really  need to spend a lot of money if we go to Sadranan Beach for vacation. Let me tell you the basic budget we will spend here, there are IDR 5,000 per person for entrance fee, IDR 2,000 for motorcycle and IDR 5,000 for car parking fee, IDR 50,000 for renting the snorkeling instruments, and arround IDR 10,000 - IDR 25,000 for renting carpet and umbrella in case we will enjoy the beach without getting sun-burned.

Directions

From Yogyakarta, we just need to go straight to the east direction along Wonosari-Jogja street. After reach Wonosari, we need to find Argosari Traditional Market, since after going across this traditional market we will find the second T-junction which is nearby police-post or in front of Amigo, then we have to turn right. Go ahead follow the planks along the street which show us the direction to Baron Beach. From Baron Beach, we need to go to the east direction until we find the plank of Sadranan Beach at the right side. 

Alright, considering the location of the beaches that not too far from another beaches in Gunungkidul and the wonderful scenery that we can find at the beach or under the sea by snorkeling, I recommend you to go to both Nglambor and Sadranan Beach.
