Ramayana Ballet Prambanan, The Wonderful Cultural Show

Ramayana Ballet Prambanan is one of the annual show which is conducted by Prambanan Temple management. This is such a big colossal drama that the main show is traditional dance. The dance itself tells the story about Ramayana which the main characters are Prince Rama and Princess Sita (Sinta). This show usually takes place at the theather stage of Prambanan Temple which the background of the stage is the Prambanan Temple. Sometimes, the participants of this show not only come from Indonesia (especially Yogyakarta) but also from some other countries within Southeast Asia, such as Philippine, Thailand, etc.

During the show, the dancers will dance to tell the audience about the Ramayana story through their beautiful body language and expressions. The Ramayana story itself was created by Jasadipura I. And the mainly source of the Ramayana Ballet Prambanan is the Ramayana story as shown at the Prambanan Temples's reliefs. The main story is about the journey of Prince Rama to safe his wife Princess Sinta from the  King of Alengka, Rahwana. This show becomes much more interesting since there are some other traditional shows inside, such as the original song from javaness singer (sinden) and the opening dance of some ladies who bring some offerings before the story started. Actually, there are four main episodes of this show. The first one tells us about the lost of Princess Sinta. The second episode tells us about the effort of Hanuman in looking for Princess Sinta. The third episode shows the death of Kumbakarna and the last episode tells us about Princess Sinta on how she avoids the Rahwana's persuasions, and on how she finally meets Prince Rama.

This annual show usually conducted on May - October. We can get the ticket by online ordering. The ticket prices are various which depends on which class we take. There are VVIP class, VIP class, etc.

Before the show started, there is a photo-boot which allow us to take pictures with some of the main characters of the drama, the most famous characters are Rama, Shinta and Anoman. After the end of the show, if you are lucky, even you can take pictures with some of the characters during the colossal-drama. Bingoo!
