Gunungkidul is such a complete spots city since there are so many tourism objects there. Besides it's wonderful beaches and amazing caves, it has a very beautiful ancient mountain which you need to visit and track, it is Nglanggeran Mountain which is located in Nglanggeran, Patuk, Gunungkidul.

General Information

Nglanggeran Mountain is one of the ancient mountain which become one of the wonderful spot in Gunungkidul regency. It is formed from the andesite which has 800 meters width and 300 meters high. This is called an ancient mountain since it was an active mountain a long time ago, but now it is non-active.

Fun Activities for Your Adventure

The main activities you can do in this object is do the maountain tracking. It needs around 1 - 1.5 hours to reach the top side of the mountain. While tracking, you will the beautiful scenery of Yogyakarta (especially Gunungkidul and the villages around this mountain). You can also enjoy Sunrise at the morning and Sunset at the evening. The other activities such as rock climbing, mountain-bike attraction, outbond, and camping are also become the favorite activities of the visitors. The newest activity you may choose is Live-in activity. If you take Live-in package activity, the crew will invite you to stay in a home stay or in a villager's house. During this live-in program, you will be invited to join some villager's fun activities such as going to the farmer's field, doing some outbond, or joining some traditional events.

Mountain Tracking

Actually, this mountain consists of some other mountains and spots on the same area, there are Mount Kelir, Comberan Spring, Mount Gedhe, Mount Bongos, Mount Blencong, Mount Buchu, Tlogo Wungu (Wungu Lake), Tlogo Mardhido (Mardhido Lake), Talang Kencono, and Pamean Gadhung. From all of these mountains and spots, Mount Gedhe is the most visited spot since this is the most strategic area. Mount Gedhe is located at the central part. It is the biggest and the highest mountains among others, so the visitors can do some activities here such as camping and hunting pictures. During your tracking, you don't need to worry of getting lost, since there are some directions which guide you to reach the top part of the mountain. The tracking is quite easy also, so it will not become a big problem for the beginners trackers. At the other hand, the tracking route for going upside is different from the route for going downside, so you will not get bored since you will see much more various views all around.

Besides wonderful spots of adventure, there are some public facilities which are available here, they are: Health Care center, information center, culinary center, hall, toilet, home stay, mosque, easy tracking route, and camping ground.

Ticketting and Access

For the ticketting price, for domestic visitors there are two various rate, IDR 15.000 for morning-afternoon rate and IDR 20.000 for evening rate. While for foreign tourists, the ticket costs IDR 30.000. In addition, the access to this tourism object is quite easy, there are two options: From Wonosari city: you have to take the route from Bunderan Sambipitu through Dusun Bobung and the last Nglanggeran Village. While from Yogyakarta, you have to turn left at the T-Junction after GCD FM Radio through Desa Ngoro-oro and the last Nglanggeran Village.
