Reservoir at the Top of Hill - Embung Nglanggeran

Embung Nglanggeran is the other interesting tourism object which is located nearby Nglanggeran Mountain in Nglanggeran Village, Pathuk, Gunungkidul. This object become the other interesting spot in Nglanggeran Tour Village which was built along with the exotic Nglanggeran Fruits Garden.

General Information

Actually embung means reservoir. While in Javanese culture, "embung" is an artificial lake which function is as the irrigation source. This artificial reservoir was firstly legitimated by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X on February, 19 2013. Before becoming reservoir, this location was a hill named Gunung Gandu. The main purpose of making this reservoir was to make the gardener easier in watering the fruits garden around this object and the farmer fields under this reservoir. Embung Nglanggeran has 5000 square meters width. Around this artificial lake, there are some fruit trees growth such as durian, rambutan, and kelengkeng. 

The Amazing of Embung Nglanggeran

During visiting this object, the visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery and feel the fresh air from the top side of the hill. To reach the reservoir area, the tourists need to step up on the rock-stairs which are already provided there. Besides the beautiful scenery of the artifical lake and the village under the hill, the you can see also the amazing scenery of the Ancient Mountain, Nglanggeran. If you come here at early morning, you can find the wonderful sun-rise from this object. Even, at the evening, you can also enjoy the elegant sun-set from this up of the hill. So wonderful! But, if you go there at the noon, don't forget to wear your hat. It would be better also for you to wear the comfort clothes and shoes, since even though the air is fresh, but somehow it is quite hot at noon when the sun shines up straight our head.

Access to Embung Nglanggeran

Since the location is not too far from Nglanggeran Mountain, so the access is also the same as Ngglanggeran Mountain, there are two alternative routes. From Wonosari, by taking the route at Bunderan Sambipitu through Dusun Bobung and then Nglanggeran Village. While from Yogyakarta, by turning left at the t-junction after GCD FM radio station, through Desa Ngoro-oro then Nglanggeran Village.

Ticketting Price and Public Facilities

Talking about the ticketting price, for morning/ noon rate it costs IDR 10.000 while for the evening rate it costs IDR 15.000. The public facilities at this tourism object are quite complete, starts from the toilete, cafetaria, parking area, and some gazebos as the rest area. For sure, this spot will lead you to refresh your mind by feeling the natural fresh air and enjoying the beautiful scenery all around this Embung Nglanggeran. So, come and enjoy your weekend here!
