Taman Pintar Yogyakarta - The Great Education Object for Childrena and Students

Taman Pintar Yogyakarta is one of the education object for children. It is located at the central city of Yogyakarta, near by Vredeburg Fortress Museum. The exact address of Taman Pintar Yogyakarta is at Jalan Panembahan Senopati, No.3, Yogyakarta.

General Information

This object was built on May 2006 under the idea of Yogyakarta's Mayor, Herry Zudianto, SE, Akt, MM who got the inspiration from the technological and education object which was already exist in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Taman Pintar Yogyakarta was firstly legitimated on June, 9th 2007 by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and two Indonesian's ministers: Kusmayanto Kadiman, Ph.D (Technology and Research Minister) and Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo,MBA (National Educaton Minister). Talking about the symbol of Taman Pintar Yogyakarta that is Owl which is wearing "blangkon". The Owl itselft means the symbol of big sensitivity and curiosity of it's surrounding, while the "blangkon" itself means the symbol of Yogyakrta. In conclusion, the symbol means that hopefully this object will become the object which can develop and improve the sensitivity and curiosity of the childrean/ students in Yogyakartaa and other areas. The symbol of Taman Pintar Yogyakarta has close relation with it's motto, which is taken from Ki Hadjar Dewantara statements, it is 3N which consists of: Niteni (Remember/ Understand), Nirokke (Imitate), and Nambahi (Develop). Or at the other words, it refers to 3A concept: Adopt, Adapt, and Advance.

Mediums and Education Zones

Built on the 12.000 square meters area, this object has functions as the education and recreation spot for preschool children until the junior high school students.  There are some some interesting educational inovation and technology which very useful for childrean and students. The mediums which are provided in Taman Pintar divided into some groups which are considering the age range and the material given. The age group itself consists of preschool children, kindergarten students, primary school students, and junior high school students. For the material presentation, it presents in a form of direct interaction between the material presenter and the visitors through each different pavilion/ medium such as introduction pavilion, basic knowledge introduction pavilion, games pavilion, and educational technology implementation pavilion.

Playground at Taman Pintar Yogyakarta

The integrated mediums which are available in Taman Pintar actually have one big purpose in order to improve the education quality at the school/ classroom activity.  This purpose is actualized by providing some teaching and learning mediums to stimulate the children/ students develop their critical thinking and to overcome some problems using their logical thinking or at the other words we can lead the students for learning by doing. There are six building zones in this object: Memorabilia Building, Square Building (1st floor), Oval Building (1st and 2nd Floor, Preschool Building (east and west side), and Playground Area. There are some objects inside these zones, such as: The Littel Adventurer (Penjelajah Kecil), Invention Footbridge (Titian Penemuan), Environment Adventure (Petualangan Lingkungan), Science Bridge (Jembatan Sains), Science Footbridge (Titian Sains), My Indonesia (Indonesiaku), Popular and Sophisticated Technology (Teknologi Canggih dan Populer), and Playground area.

Public Facility and Ticketing

Besides the education and recreation spots, there are some public facilities which are available here, such as toilet, mosque, laboratory, library, indoor and outdoor stage, souvenir shops, bookstore, and large parking area. While if you want to know about the ticketing price, these following details are the ticketing price list:

-Preschool Building (east and west side) ticketing costs IDR 1.000 for 2-7 years-old children.

-Oval and Square Building ticketing costs IDR 5.000 for kindergarten-high school students (5-18 years-old), while for the adult people/ for parents it costs IDR 10.000.

-Memorabilia Building ticketing costs IDR 1.000 for children, while it costs IDR 2.000 for parents/ adult people.

-Playground area is free entrance.
